Lucas texas real estate
Lucas
Lucas Texas was
originally inhabited by Indians. Of those that called the area home
were Cherokee, Kickapoo, Tonkawa, Delaware, and Caddo. It wasn’t
until 1841 that any white people were in Lucas or even Collin County
for that matter. In the beginning it was hard to settle land in the
area due to Indian attacks, but from 1844 to 1850 the land managed
to become more populated.
The majority of the
early settlers were farmers who farmed cotton and corn, and on
occasion wheat and cattle. Many churches popped up in the area due
to the strong religious beliefs of the area community. Schools were
placed inside the area churches to teach the young children of
Lucas.
Many of Lucas'
starting years were spent as a primarily farming area. It was not
until much later that it became a residential community. Today Lucas
is firm in the beliefs that originally started the area. Hard work,
dedication, and pride have helped the area and the residents excel
and create a neighborhood and a city to be proud of.
