Wylie texas real estate
Wylie
Wylie became an
incorporated in Texas in 1886. The town was named after Colonel W.D.
Wylie, a Santa Fe Rail Official and a Civil War Vet. Wylie was
formed with a good start and just 4 years after incorporation they
had 239 community members. In 1890 the first area school was built.
From there population grew and many things came into the area.
Everything from banks, gins, and two story schoolhouses could be
found.
Wylie has had
more than one nickname in its day. In the 1930s Wylie was known as
the "onion capital of the world" and by the 1950's the town was
called "Wide awake Wylie". Time moved on and the town saw its number
of disasters, including a tornado and a number of fires in the
1990's. Despite that the area has continued to band together and
prosper.
Today Wylie
is one of the fastest growing communities in Collin County and the
whole state of Texas. The city is proud to say they have become a
well balanced community that offers residents and guests some of
everything, including a healthy business climate and a great
neighborhood!
